Accessories

The HD 4850 ships with a Quick Installation Guide, a Sapphire Case sticker,  the S-Video connector, S-video/coaxial adapter, Sub-15/DVI adapter, DVI/HDMI adapter, and driver disk.  Driver version 12.098 is included out of the box.

Back

The back of the HD 4650 is fairly nondescript. A simple four screw mounting holds this reference style heatsink/fan combination in place.  The addition of some additional mounting holes located near the memory hints at exotic cooling potential left untapped in this version of the card.

ports

Although the HD 4650 supports HDMI the card only has two DVI connectors and a S-video port. HDMI is supported using the supplied HDMI adapter.  The HD 4650 also supports 7.1 surround sound via the HDMI output using ATI's onboard sound processor.

Drivers

At the time this was written ATI only offered support for the HD 4650 through the Catalyst 8.10 driver and then only with the 737-38750 Hotfix applied.  This puts the driver a generation behind the higher end cards.  Future driver support should include the HD 4650 though support for 64bit Vista seems to be unpredictable sometimes.
