When I'm gaming, I like to have the volume pretty loud. Sure great game graphics are nice, but the soundtrack and sound effects can be just as amazing but you'll never know it if you can't hear it. Why would we want to do any injustice to the hard work being done to create the aural experience by keeping the volume low or playing it on a substandard set of speakers?

It wasn't until 2004 that the The Music Television Video Music Awards started their "Best Videogame Soundtrack" category. That finally gives video game soundtrack producers like Jeremy Soule the same kind of international recognition that motion picture soundtrack creators receive.

Headphones are a great solution when you don't want to bother anybody else with your noise. But most headphones really can't hit you with that feeling that you're supposed to get. That's because most headphones are only built for stereo sound. Meaning, there are only speakers to handle a left and right channel. Tritton wants to make sure you get all the audio impact by making this headset as immersive as possible.

Hearing things in surround sound is the only way that's possible. This headset is loaded with eight miniature speakers (or drivers for our audiophile crowd) which all work together to recreate the 5.1 surround sound experience. The term "5.1" refers to a standardized speaker arrangement in which there is a Front (left and right), Surround [Rear] (left and right), a center channel, and a Low Field Effect or Subwoofer. This is the base for many of today's top formats such as Dolby Digital (AC-3), Digital Theater System (DTS), and Sony Dynamic Digital Sound (SDDS).
