One of the
best things about a trip to the Consumer Electronics Show (or any
major event that has anything even remotely to do with
electronics and computers) is the chance to get together with
all of our friends and talk about tech. Of course we talk about it
at home too, but Paul and I were saying just the other day.... When
we're at the shows and talking tech, you're absolutely surrounded by
people that can follow, and even add to, the conversation. When
we're out of our element, and we try and carry-on an in- depth
conversation, it usually results in getting odd looks with twisted
faces. This was simply NOT the case at the CES in Las Vegas.

When we met up with Grant at
Kingwin, we were immediately engaged into a conversation about power
supplies. He showed us around the booth and showcased all of
Kingwin's newest additions. While this was happening, I could almost
see the gears turning in Paul's head. After the presentations
we started sharing our 'exploding power supply stories'.
How many times has this
happened to you? Someone wants to build a new PC, and they have a
budget already set and probably have a few pieces picked out they
want to go with. They've picked an enclosure that costs somewhere in
the $90 range that happens to include a 400 watt power supply. Being
the seasoned expert that you are, you kindly suggest that he/she
replace that power supply with an after-market model. You meet heavy
resistance, even after telling all of the horror stories you've
amassed in your 'x' number of years of system building. Sure enough,
two weeks later you see that same PC again - only this time when you
open the side panel, you catch the distinct odor of cooked
electrical components. Next, you order the power supply you
suggested in the first place...
When selecting a power supply,
a Novice may look no further than the total wattage of the unit
while an enthusiast will look for more stringent stats such as
Active Power Filtering Circuits or the SLI Ready logo. As always,
the competition among manufacturers is fierce which can reap huge
benefits for the consumer. Advancements in the power supplies energy
efficiency, the added aesthetics, and even shrinking the physical
size of the unit itself, all go a long way in giving the consumer
more of what they want.

Kingwin has always had
outstanding units to choose from and they've added this beast
(the ABT-1000MA1S) to their flagship line of power
supplies. The Mach 1 line of power supplies all share these great features and
specifications;
ATX/BTX Compliant
• 6+2 Pin PCI Express Connectors • SATA
Connectors • 150mm Blue LED FAN
ATX 12v v2.92 • 115/240VAC
switching • Gold Coated connectors • Over/Under voltage protection
Nickel Plated casing • six 12V rails • Durable modular connectors •
Automatic fan speed
nVidia SLI Ready Certification
