When I first heard about Soltek it intrigued me. I was under the
impression that it was some kind of company located in upper Russia
plugging out motherboards in the ice cold Ukraine winter. Of course I
was mistaken, Soltek turns out to be a traditional Taiwanese company,
although they do differ a bit when it comes to their overall delivery of
a product. Most of us never really take into consideration the
differences between a small and a large motherboard company. Soltek is
one of those companies that has the ability to focus all of its
attention towards the development of a product. This kind of notion
really takes shape given that we have yet to see any kind of problems
with Soltek motherboards. We have never had a problem with Soltek
motherboards except perhaps when it comes to the BIOS. Most BIOS from
the likes of ABIT or DFI give you vast options in which you can tweak
and optimize your system. Of course we must add that Soltek despite
being the underdog in their BIOS options, especially the voltage
options, still perform extremely well, and in some cases better. We can
say that they are continuing their tradition of stability with the
latest VIA chipset, the K890 which we are going to have a look at today.
