Lian-Li was a little known name in the US just a few months ago, now
they are one of the biggest names in computer cases. The beauty, quality
and shear perfection of their cases are unbelievable. From the first
time I laid eyes on their cases, namely the PC60, I knew the Lian-Li
cases would be a big hit. I was right, the Lian-Li PC60 is one of the
most sought after computer cases on the market today. Although many
would-be buyers suffered from "sticker shock" when these cases first
came out, the prices have come down quite a bit making them a little
easier to obtain by the mortal working class computer enthusiast.
I'm a proud
owner of a Lian-Li PC60 and I've yet to see a case that can beat it.
Sure, mid towers are great but I favor the extra space a full tower
delivers. Lucky for me, Lian-Li has a big brother to the PC60 and it's
simply called the PC70. This case looks to have everything I've ever
wanted in a full tower case and then some!
While surfing
through Lian-Li resellers, I came across something that really caught my
eye. A modified PC70 from
The Card Cooler!
The picture just happened to be of a very sweet window kit of theirs but
it was in a Lian-Li case. This I have never seen before... From what I
understand, aluminum is very hard to cut without causing unwanted damage
so very few companies sell these. Not to mention the cost of such a
beast can run quite high. While I'm on the subject of money, I want to
warn you that the modified PC70 I'm about to show you is not cheap.
However, I firmly believe in the the saying "you get what you pay for".
With that said, let's take a look at this "PC70
Extreme"!

SPECIFICATIONS
Before I get to the Mods, let's take a look at the normal specs. The
PC70 come well packed in HUGE box and boy was the UPS guy pissed!
Good thing this case is ultra light or he would have had to wheel it in!
The overall dimensions of the case is L22" x W8.25" x H22.50". The PC70
is packed with bays, 15 in all. It has 6 external 5.25", 3 external 3.5"
and 6 internal 3.5" bays. It comes stock with 2 - 80mm variable speed
fans in front and 2 - 80mm exhaust fans in back. There is also an
optional plate in the back for use with redundant power supplies. As
with the PC60, the PC70 is also tool-less!

The
new PC60 and PC70 cases are now coming with a built in USB hub in the
front. This is very cool but keep in mind that not all motherboards have
the extra USB connectors needed for this feature.
