VIA Unveils Next-Generation Isaiah x86 Processor Architecture
IT Pros and Developers are Heroes in New Comic by Celebrated Cartoonist
Readers invited to help build storylines in daily web comic co-sponsored by Microsoft and Seagate

SAN FRANCISCO – JANUARY 29, 2008 – A brand new daily web comic for IT developers and pros debuted today at www.heroeshappenhere.com/comic. Created by veteran comic book editor and writer Jordan Gorfinkel and produced by Avalanche Comics Entertainment, the web comic follows a cast of information technologists as they write code, fix bugs and solve problems around the globe, while simultaneously trying to maintain their personal lives.

"This new web comic celebrates the people who make the world run," says Gorfinkel, who goes by the moniker "Gorf." "IT pros and developers usually stay behind the scenes and keep a low profile, but in fact many of them are unsung heroes."

The comic will run from January 28 – June 28, 2008 and readers can subscribe to an RSS feed to receive the newest installation every day.

Inspired by real world stories of IT pros and developers, the comic centers around four characters who are unexpectedly thrown together to chase down a rogue computer virus. Intrigue, drama and adventure follow, and the foursome must use their combined knowledge to solve the challenges that arise. The smart, wisecracking dialogue is peppered with references to famous bugs, software code names and insider references that will appeal to technology fans everywhere.

Gorf and his team are making an open call to developers and IT pros to submit stories for incorporation into the storyline. "As an outsider looking in, I'm counting on the IT community for ideas and support as this comic strip goes forward," Gorf declares. "I'm an eager student, and willing to learn."

Gorfinkel was a DC Comics editor for nearly a decade, and a force behind the resurgence of the Batman franchise. He brings a keen eye to the development of the new comic, creating characters and settings that instantly feel familiar.

The new comic was co-sponsored by Microsoft and Seagate as a way to demonstrate their respect and appreciation for the IT community, and to celebrate these unsung heroes in a unique, fun and informative way. The debut was planned as an integral part of the February 27, 2008 release of three new products: Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008.
